Gilmac ‘thinks big’ with storage solution

Swan Hill Engineering were excited to be asked by Gilmac, Australia’s largest hay exporter, to design and install two huge sheds to significantly increase their storage capacity.

Swan Hill Engineering was the logical choice to build the new project given their previous experience building similar installations for Gilmac in Victoria. Gilmac had been impressed by Swan Hill Engineering’s unique building technique (link ‘How We Construct) that reduced construction time and increased safety for workers onsite.

Located in South Australia – Gilmac’s expansion of their Balaklava branch has enabled them to double their production capability from 25,000 to a massive 40,000 tonnes. Each shed is an impressive 160m long and 45m wide, Swan Hill Engineering required ten cranes to lift these huge structures into place.

As a result of their investment, Gilmac has significantly expanded their business, created more local jobs and helped develop greater opportunities for all hay farmers in the area.
